
This year, I was asked to come up with a logo. (I was like..hell yea? As far as my design "career" goes, I've never actually attempted something as deep into the Chinese culture as this project. It was definitely challenging. and fun. and messy.)
So, Logo for CSA = pure Chinese essence + American culture.
What shouts CHINESE more than the calligraphy?! So I hit the books, ones that weigh like a baby and carry all the traditional type faces. 華 especially, it basically means Chinese.

I always wanted to make something out of the calligraphy.
All the default fonts from the computers look tooo generic, so I tried to come up with something...amazingly hideous. (I just got negative 20 Chinese points)

Sidenote// It took me 15 minutes to clean up after.
Then, concept sketches. Adding "CSA" into the calligraphy writing, yet keeping the whole "華" look.

After some constructive and some kinda-not-so constructive criticisms. I came up with this:
