Goodies and haircut

So there's this place.

Called the Bargain Barn.

Hosted by UC Davis, who collects all the outdated, not-used department goods and reselling them back to the public with a really decent price. Items ranged from staplers, tables, Apple computers, projectors, to shades.

It's located next to La Rue.

Behind the Tercero DC and dorms. Diagonally across from Meyer Hall. The only downside is that it opens strictly from 9am to 1pm on weekdays. 9-1pm?! Some of you don't even wake up till 12pm. You just gotta take the bad with the good.

After a good look at the stuff they offer, I got myself a few things.

From the top, some vintage telegraphic display device, 2 binder, a pen holder, old school monitor, and mega-frame workplace organizer.

..and all just cost me 7 bucks.

The pen holder is now being put to use.

So is the organizer.

as for the monitors, they'll be served for tabling decoration for my vending events.

Oooooh yes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then later today, Kevin and I got a hair cut.

For Kevin,

For me,

I suppose I'm okay with what they had to offer.

First moment, a CNGNOT photo by the XTi.

Round house kick, TIZ style.

2nd moment, kick flip with continuous shots.

epic fail.

Moment number 3, the resemblance of Kevin and the Chinese zombies.

Moment 4, definitely a Kodak's moment.

This is just one very sweet photo.

Dollar Bill

Thought it should be something that we ought to be more familiar of.
It's something that we have stayed in contact many years- resolve around tipping situation, buying soft drinks on a hot summer day, buying hot coco on a cold winter day, paying bridge toll, and sparing to the homeless( hopefully).

And then, there's accessories.

Or apparel.

Learn how to fold this.

Or really just for entertainment.

Via Atypyc

With all the symbols, letters, and numbers on the bill, do you know exactly what they stand for or even have a vague idea on what they represent? Get a life, you say. Well, I just think that this is the least I can do to something that I have intimate relationship with - get to know it.

After the research, I realize that there's ALOT to a Bill. Just on the front. So the front will be all that we talk about for now.

Here's the anatomy of a dollar:

Front is meant more as functions and indications for the bill:
1st, let's point out the obvious.

1.Directly beneath the seal is the signature of the Secretary of the United States Treasury. Just to the left of his (or her) signature is the series year -- 2001, 1957.

2.left hand side of the bill, on the bottom, is the signature of the Treasurer of the United States, who oversees the U.S. Mint and Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

3.George Washington, Father of His Country, who was our First President of our present Government, has his picture in the center of the one dollar bill.

4.There are two big 1s in both upper corners. There are two smaller 1s in both lower corners. The two big numbers on top are enclosed in different settings. The two smaller numbers on bottom are enclosed in the same setting.

Then, there's the not so obvious ones:

1.32 one dollar bills are printed each time the plate comes down.
Directly below the big number 1 on the upper top of the one
dollar bill is a large letter, and a small number. The letter
indicates which row the bill you are looking at was taken from.
The number beside the letter indicates the position of the bill on that row.

2.You will notice it has a LARGE letter in the center of the seal. These letters identify the bank that issued the bill.

The letter L, for example, indicates that the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco California issued the bill.
J - the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City Missouri.
B - issued in New York.
D - the Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland Ohio.
H - the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis Missouri.
E - the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond Virginia
A - Boston
C - Philadelphia
F - Atlanta
G - Chicago
I - Minneapolis
J - Kansas City
K - Dallas

3.Now we are ready to look at the SERIAL NUMBERS in green. There is one in the lower left hand portion of the one dollar bill, and a matching number in the upper right hand portion. The letter which precedes the numbers must be the same number that you saw identifying the Federal Reserve Bank. J for J. B for B, and D for D.

4.In the upper left hand corner -- beside the ROW identifier I mentioned previously, you will find a NUMBER. It is rather inconspicuous unless you are looking for it. This number is yet another identifier of the issuing bank. The number "12" (for example) must match the letter L(in order of the alphabets) in the issuing bank's seal. The same number will be found similarly in close proximity to each of the number 1s in each of the four corners of the one dollar bill.

5.The letter which trails after the numerals in serial number reveals how many times the exact same serial number has run. The letter A identifies it as the first run, and the letter Z identifies it as the 26th run with 32 bills printed on each run. Our bill is on its 8th run.

Consequently, there can only be 832 bills printed with the same numbers.

Holy Crap. That's a lot of story on 1 single dollar, no?

Dunnies. Dunnys'. Dunny's.

Phew, long day today. Just gotten a chance to pop these Dunnies from Ye Olde English and 5th series. Having to discover these little toys from the silver reflective packaging is just as exciting as watching a Steven Spielberg film- Great movie covers, never know what to expect, but always good.

AHHHHHHHH. exactly what first popped into my head when I saw this Dunny.

This happen to be one of the sillouettes for the series. That's right.

The second Dunny turned out to be an ice cream.

Wooot. More to my Dunny collection. Thanks, Lillian.

ManShell's 21st

So many birthday entries?! yup, Michelle just happened to have been born the day after me.

Her friends and family dropped by Pisces of SF.

A great restaurant comes with great dishes. I had duck leg with garlic noodle. No alcohol.

Everyone had their own little dish going.

Gained a lot love with the new camera.

A LOT of love.

Creative one by Karen.

Nancy and Maxine

Lillian and Brian

Dinner was great, but not as great as the bday dish for the bday girl.

Clever: putting the brand name on the plate. Indeed, the restaurant was elegant with a classy touch on the side. Too bad it's hidden deep in the suburbs of Sunset...next to a Japanese sushi place, which are the only two restaurants within the radius of 20 miles.

Not only Manshell had the sweets, she had received a bunch of gifts, too.

"WHAT?!"

The amazing hot chocolate set.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a short bathroom break, we headed to a close by Karaoke place.

(what's wrong with this picture?)

All the cool peeps that sang their lungs out:

The ladies:

And Robert.

Ohhh yes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also received some sweet presents.
The protection gear from Manshell.

And Dunnies from Lillian.

Woooot.

Shots from XTi

No flash. Around 6 pm at San Francisco.

The center piece of my ride. My own custom Bent. Of course, gotta love storm troopers.

The SD 600 has been traveling with me for more than 2 years now. He'll still has his place for the minor blog entries of hideout parties, secret snapshots, and CNGNOT. The responsibility of conveying the atmosphere of major events like..everything else has been pass down to the XTi.

The point-and-shoot is definitely more convenient to carry around due to its light weight and small size.

BAM. haunt you for life.

It's a birthday thing

Just few days before my actual birthday, a couple of my great friends came over to have a pre-bday celebration.

There was no theme, no plan, just a bunch of chillage:

When the party first started: fix up, peace signs, and jackets.

Then..bottles and bottles kicked in.

..everyone became more sociable.

..and started many conversations.

Some just like to get their grub on.

Tess had a good time.

Ka-tye popped by.

People did, too.

I was abit too red for the photo.

These were my gifts.

Turn out, I got 6 pair of socks.

and a REBEL XTi!

Isn't she a beauty?

Thanks, guys.

More Vids to Come

Just a couple of snapshots I did today.
More feature artist videos coming soon.

Making the band 8?

Time went by fast. It was a pretty productive afternoon. Despite that we spent around 20 minutes fixing up the torn backdrop butchered by some previous user of the room.

Monkeyphobia was happy.

..because he had his preview.

None of this for you till the release of the actual feature.

Can't touch me now.

Event Planning

TIZ will be premiering its Spring 2009 line on March 14th at UC Davis.
Starting from next week, I'll be posting up themes and stories related to the upcoming shirts.
But for now, Rasikh, Nestor, Dkwan, and I will be coming up ideas for the show.

Here's the set.

A platform of 40 feet long and 4 feet in width will stretch out across the floor of Freeborn hall to give the audiences a closer look at the apparel. We'll also be able to play around with lighting, the show will be pretty interesting.

Last night, a few hours was spent with these creative ones for some brainstorming.

K-Con

Karaoke Competitions. I've been to a couple of them, but never gotten the time to post an entry to these. First off, mad props to the coordinators and the hosts that carried out the show. Very well done.

First one: UC Davis CSA

Their program.

The officers that greeted everyone that showed up.

Better yet, they created a music video for the show.

Angela's "Raining day"

Vic's "Secret"

There's a couple more, but I was too late for pictures. Though, I do have the entire MV here:

At 2:57, we have Dennis rocking the Zeebic's Cube Tee, woot.

Just moments before the show, we had camera snapping all over the place.

Guess what we found? a Competitor!

Helen and Jaelim came for the contest as well.

"YAY" said Joey

The singers were great, you just had to be here.

Then the next day, it was 星島's K-con.

Guess what? One of the contestant was rocking Winter OG tee.

"Go, Lillian!" Screamed the crowd.

The finalists.

Teen 星島 of the year and the winner of the day.

The street fest was going on,too. For the celebration of year 2009 of the Ox.

I really tried to convey the "adore" look,

//Michelle's an eater.

But it turned out like this.

Brian and Nancy.

Well done.

Michelle and Nancy.

Not so well done.

Justin and Maxine.

Just one more day till Vday. Wish you the best.

has been changed.
For those who only read through RSS feeds.

Yup, and I know what you're saying.."Hey, that's a lot of myspace windows."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of you probably weren't here since day 1. Here's a chance to check out the previous versions of the TIZ webpage. The opening.

The main.

Simplicity can last a long way. The first layout turned out to be too complex. On the front, there's a picture of the big zeeb head taken from the video- Epiphany.

V2.

The goal for this one was to change background frequently to give the readers a refreshing sense when visit.

However, the penal didn't turn out to be too user friendly. So that was the end of it.

But hey, I'm digging the layout now.

FILAH like it's hot.

I was invited to guest-speak at the Visual Communication Panel hosted by FILAH (Filipino's in Liberal Arts & Humanities). There were 3 panelists, including me. However, Tiffany from Vent Magazine had to undergo through some reconstructions and wasn't able to make it. That'd left the panel with Leejay Abucayan, graphic designer for Disney Consumer product, and I, the guy that makes shirts.

It was great fun with the exchanging of questions and answers, as well as getting the insider point of view of working at Disney. (Lots of perks, *winks.) The event was really casual. Started with an ice breaker-"slogans" and free-donuts. Ended with this:

//This one's for Darryl

Btw, two of the three products that needed a slogan was Beer and Condoms.
Beer- "Even Goldilocks can't resist this."
Condom- "If you want to do more than just rub-her."

Jesus, there were some seriously creative minds in the crowd last night.
Again, it was great fun.

The masterminds of FILAH

Thanks so much for the invitation. Here we have from the left Leo, Marc, Emily, Jo Anne, Courtney, and Lauren.

They even gave me a Thank You card.

Thank you FILAH again, I'm looking forward to any future opportunities in working with you guys.
Best of luck Leejay, have a great one at Disney.
Thanks to all that showed up, hope you had a great one.
