Cleaning out the closet

Moving into a new place's great, but moving out is more annoying than having a gum stuck underneath your favorite kicks at a party.

The place was filled with memories. Cover photo's a poster of the blue sky Tee from '07.

Battle wounds.

Kevin's 20th bday gift.

Joey drinks water like an elephant.

..and is a car nut.

And the infamous hole in the wall by Kevin's spider man stunt.

A piece of the new place will be updated soon.

Apple Snow Leopard Discount?!

So Apple's latest operating system Snow Leopard will be coming out on the 28th this month (That's this coming Friday) and it's going for $29.

During this econ down time, I spend a good amount of time checking out fatwallets, slickdeals,(Thanks, Kyle, for the resourceful sites) for the best discounts I can get my hands on.

Here's what I've found (the sale's still up as of RIGHT NOW 7:03pm 08/25/09)

//Dam, the image I made above looks like a weak ad poster for tech stores. Oh well, that was the best way to convey the message, since most of you guys probably don't read through my posts.

+It's 24.99 on Amazon.

+And for the recent Apple users(anyone who purchased Mac w/ Leopard OS after 06/08/2009). you'd get to purchase the OS for only $10! (This is old news, but you might have forgotten)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Totally off topic: The first picture was suppose to be made specifically for this post, but I really diggd it..so now it's my wall paper.

If you want one, too, then tell me your resolution:

Fish & Chips

Dude, I'm hella hungry.

Just the other day, while we were in San Jose, Cody brought us to try his family-owned fish & chips restaurant. It was my first time ever trying this stuff. (weird, I seemed to be programmed in buying only clam and chowder when I visit fisherman wharf's)

Cody's mom's an artist. She gave the restaurant a personal touch.

Unlike the left-aligned arial font menu for all the restaurant I see, they customized theirs with hand painted boards and cut out pictures.

Check out this handy menu.

The first restaurant they owned.

Vinegar + salt = heaven sauce.

Calamari on the side.

Wipe your mouth.

Good times. Hella good food. You gotta have your own experience here at 2632 Union Ave, San Jose.

San Want a Piece of me sta

A friend of mine's got a vocational home/barn up at the canyons of San Juan Bautista. With midterms ahead of some of us, we decided to hit up the place. (You can take midterms all the time, but going to an 8 acre vocational home before a midterm? Like once. )

That's 100 miles (1 hour and 40 minutes of drive) from my place. Lovely.

Of all the hours we have a day, we chose to take off around 11. Ended up there around:

It was humongous.

3's a crowd. We went with a party. 4 of us, me, Cody, Joey, and Tony.

Plus a crazy fridge.

We had a few beers, many bottles of water, instant noodles, and a series of mahjongs and poker games.

Crossbows.

...not surprised.

We decided to try out that bad boy. Scare crow was down to volunteer as the target.

Swear we didn't pressure him into it.

Joey's pose ftw.

AIM.

Tony was next.

I gave a try, too.

Result.

I didn't hit crap.

Combination of weather, scenery, and atmosphere, the area was simply perfect.

Their front yard made a good place for car commercials, no?

As we were up on the canyons, we drove all the way up to the peak of the canyon and check out the park that will soon be removed. (weak)

Memory shot with Zeeb.

Guess who we saw on the way down the mountain.

This guy was climbing up our car window like we were his long lost relatives.

We roll through down town San Juan Bautista.

It was a beautful, yet historical mark.

Chuck Norris Got Nothing On This.

It was an amazing trip. Good luck on those whose got midterms in a few hours.

Genetics Club design process

I'm very honored to help design the upcoming club t-shirt for the Genetics Club at UC Davis. It's their 2nd year in UCD, show them some love.

Any design needs a concept- I went for "Paving/painting/building genetics" for this one.

Genetics' some serious stuff, it's like legos for bio enthusiasts.

CSA logo design process

This year, I was asked to come up with a logo. (I was like..hell yea? As far as my design "career" goes, I've never actually attempted something as deep into the Chinese culture as this project. It was definitely challenging. and fun. and messy.)

So, Logo for CSA = pure Chinese essence + American culture.

What shouts CHINESE more than the calligraphy?! So I hit the books, ones that weigh like a baby and carry all the traditional type faces. 華 especially, it basically means Chinese.

I always wanted to make something out of the calligraphy.

All the default fonts from the computers look tooo generic, so I tried to come up with something...amazingly hideous. (I just got negative 20 Chinese points)

Sidenote// It took me 15 minutes to clean up after.

Then, concept sketches. Adding "CSA" into the calligraphy writing, yet keeping the whole "華" look.

After some constructive and some kinda-not-so constructive criticisms. I came up with this:

Major Renovation!

I've been staring at the same thing for waaaay too long. Time to change it up! (More than just the front pages) Some of the site's features are not quite up to par(underneath the surface). Some areas were unorganized and messy(you might not paid attention to). Anyway, it's good to clean things up and give it a better(to me) look.

Nothing will be suddenly deleted, so you'll actually get to see the site going through the change for the next coming week or so.

For now, here's the new main page.

And help me browse with your browser!

Fabric, art, and creme brulee

mm...creme brulee, this isn't just any creme brulee, it's the one you'd have to hunt for. Quite literally.

Curtis Kimball, the chief behind the mobile cart, sells creme brulee and creme brulee only at...well, it's hard to tell where he'll be next time. That's right. He tweets to his followers the time and location of where he'll be selling his cart full of special flavored creme brulees. (And sometimes he'd delete the tweet after just to make finding him harder. Jesus.)

Gotta give him mad props for using twitter so fully, creatively, and deliciously.

There it was, a tweet revealed that he'd be at Fabric 8 on Saturday from 3-430pm.
After first hearing the whole creme brulee cart from Michelle's cousin, Michelle and I decided to go on an adventure to hunt this guy down.

In front of Fabric 8, 2:53pm.

It was our first time coming to this part of San Francisco. (Michelle's a SF resident, too)
We didn't pay much attention to the store at first and just focused on our crave for the creme brulee, until we stepped in. Fabric 8's full with surprises.

What a pleasant welcome.

The store was astoundingly artsy, with paintings, toys, and cloths placed neatly across the walls.

The store was split into 2 sectors. The front being the retail area and the back as the spacious gallery.

THIS is their floor. (Hold yourself together and pick up your jaw)

Their ceiling.

This one caught me off guard.

It's the restroom.

The tub's actually got a few fish, too.

Then, there he was. Hidden within the gallery. with his cart, torch, and creme brulees.

He's got dark chocolate, lavender, apple jacks, vanilla, and frosted flakes for the day.

4 bucks a piece, I got lavender for Michelle and Apple Jack for my tummy. (I heard frosted flake was heaven AFTER i bought the two, geez.)

His handy dandy cart.

This picture's random. The process of waiting.

Creme brulee was pretty good and creamy. I really liked the experience, having to look for it made them taste extra good. Woot for innovation.

350z x CB350

Friday afternoon.

Cody's a recent bike owner. The classy Honda CB350's his first bike. After weeks of refurbishment and detailing the bike from head to toe, it was time to give his baby a little photoshoot, so he could proudly show it off to his grandsons.

Joey's got some new upgrades for his Z as well. New spoiler, exhaust, camber adjustments..etc.
I'll let the photos do the talking:

BAM.

Useful online stuff..that are free

I spend more than 4-5 hours online almost daily, things can get a whole lot easier with some proper online applications or widgets. I like things affordable and efficient. So, all of the resources that I'm sharing with you now are completely FREE. (Only catch is, most of the stuff here are meant specifically for Mac and Firefox users.)

With hundreds of new online apps coming out everyday and with hundreds (well, a good amount) of apps I've tried, these are some good essential ones that significantly saved me some time and enhanced my productivity on doing some REAL work.

I've got 2 web pages, 2 firefox add-ons, and 2 mac dashboard widgets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WEBPAGES:

2conv.com

Let's face it, not all of us purchase our musics through CDs or iTunes. But certainly, ALL of us use youTube to a certain degree. This website helps convert the audio file from any YouTube video to mp3s.

Mint.com

Online money management. It's like a secretary for your spendings. Set a budget for yourself and , if, you've exceeded the budget, the site will send you a text msg or email to inform you your misdemeanor. The site also help you layout your spending trend and then provide mulah savings plan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIREFOX ADD-ONS

Xmarks.

So you've saved up all these favorite web pages under your 'bookmarks' or 'favorites', then you've decided to get a new computer/laptop, and now you'd have to find that seem-to-be-purposely-deeply-hidden folder that kept alllll the dam marks to transfer to the new one. Well, things are going to be a lot easier now.

This add-on helps all the firefox users to sync all the bookmarks(kinda like a back up) online to your specific account. So the next time when you upgrade to a new laptop/computer, just re-download this add-on, sign in, then BAM, your bookmarks will be all set and good to go.

Wikipedia Look up Add On

I'm a big wikipedia fan (when I not need to cite things for papers). When it comes to something I don't know quite well, or AT ALL, I'd copy the specific phrase, open up a tab to wiki, then paste and search it. That's sooo 6 weeks ago(I added this addon kinda late). With this add on, you'd just have to highlight the word/phrase, right click, then THERE! A "look up in Wikipedia" option's right in your face.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DASHBOARD WIDGETS

iStat Pro & Twidget

I'm sure many of you Mac users are already familiar with iStat Pro. It's a widget that tells you EVERYTHING about your mac, including fan speed, cpu temperature, cpu usage, memory usage, battery life, network speed...everything.

Twidget's good stuff. Any of you are twitter addicts? good. Here's a way to tweet without opening a new window. All the magic will happen from your dashboard. Things will be much more efficient. ( The set up is really self explanatory.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There they are, 2 web pages, 2 widgets, and 2 addons.
Jesus, can you be any lazier?

Summall 09

It sure has been awhile, here are some little bits of sneak peaks of the upcoming designs.
Be sure to check back for the date of release.

TIZ does not have a physical store, nor have we retailed any of our clothing to any store on the streets. This is the same and only access for everyone of you to get a piece of TIZ's imagination. Yup.

UCD Breakdance Club x Billy Hong Productions

Yet another video production by Billy - amazing stuff. For those who are familiar with Davis geographically, the bboys from the vid pulled stunts from UCD Shield's library, behind Olson, and other random places without their pants. Good shit.

If you're a bboy/bgirl from Davis, UCD Breakdance Club welcomes you. (pulling pant-less stunts not required.)
