Yesterday was Michelle and I's 2.5 years, I made this for the occasion. Grabbed the tech-decks from a close by Toys-R-Us.
↑Carefully stripped away the cover.

Note: I really dig these lined up shots recently.
↑2 major components for customization: 1. The decks and 2. the back cover.
↑I lose these miniature screws all the time. Work on the project on light color surface and keep the screws together with tape.
↑The boards came polished. I used a fine grain sand paper to dull it down for primer.
↑Wrapped the edges with masking tape before applying primer. Must keep the wooden beige around the rim to preserve the skateboard look.
↑I bought this from a hobby shop. Used it all the time when I make custom Gundams. The matte primer finish actually look really good just by itself.
↑Used sand paper again to clean the edges.
Then, sketches for the deck itself.
↑I use acrylic for most of my project, since they're water resistant. I also have a set of thin fine bushes(some from Kevin) for detail art works.
↑First coat.
↑7th coat: the result of black background and bad quality acrylic paint.
Rough finish.
↑Most boards(slightly more expensive ones) seem to have a clear glossy finish nowadays. I use wood varnish to protect the design as well as giving that final touch at the end.
↑Reassemble the board.
Next, the back cover.
Spray paint - white flat.
↑Design and print out the cover on a heavier weight paper.
↑Trimmed the edges along the original cover.
BAM. The final product:
