Michelle's 22nd

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Denial's not the solution. Michelle's bday was right after mine, on the 23rd.

Dinner at ChouChou - affordable and delectable French cuisine. (about 20 bucks/entree)

It was a rather small place, but great atmosphere with welcoming staffs.

and pardon the dark lighting - part of my head thought that it'd be cool to NOT use the flash, so the photographs can preserve the essence of the restaurant.

He just jumped into the photo. Without us asking. It's the friendliness like this that'd get the people talking.

All of Michelle's Close friends/family showed up.

My first time trying:

Brian's got the lamb.

Not much food pictures were taken - bad lighting's the ingredient to disastrous pictures.

Present time:

Then..there's

More friends came out to wish Michelle happy bday.

Good times.

The End.

Boston University - VSA design process

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Collaboration with the BUVSA.

I was asked to design their day-to-day club tee - sounds like fun.
The club wanted elements that can link the audience directly to the Vietnamese culture.

They provided me their logo, as well as pictures that comprise distinct features of Vietnam.

" Things like the water buffalo, the rice field, the straw hats, or the tourist carts."

I was given all the creative freedom. Instead of deviating entirely, I thought of combination to present the objects they mentioned:

^First concept. I had a hard time drawing a cycling buffalo. The composition was just off.

Then came the 2nd draft - a cleaner design of the buffalo with star hat.

Next step, color. Omit the cart for a better balance of the graphic.

The End.

The 22nd Birthday..

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Animation's an eye catcher.

Feb 22nd's my birthday. I just turned 22.
Temüjin became Genghis Khan when he was 21.Well, good for him.

21's often the epic birthday age when people fill themselves with alcohol. I did, totally shit faced, but it certainly wasn't as incredible as my 22nd.

I had a blast.

I've received hundreds of birthday wishes, thank you guys and thank you Facebook.

So here's a recap:

My friends dropped by my place and "surprised" me.

I had to run chores here and there, so I wasn't actually around Campus much. But I heard through my friends that they've seen MANY ppl with TIZ shirts around. Either my friends were too kind to tell me the truth or you guys are truly amazing. Thanks!

As much as I want to celebrate on the day of, it seems more important to pick a date that all my friends can make it. Friday night it was. Not much photos were taken, but these are the aftermath:

of course.

Birthday presents:

Indeed, I received a lava lamp.

2 pair of shoes.

super cool shoes.

a tripod.

wireless keyboard.

a towel from Vancouver.

And friends that wore TIZ shirts on my birthday!

UC Davis Aggie TV actually gave me a shout out, too.

If you actually took photos too, send it over here.

Flabbergasted.
thank you all who wished/thought about wishing me happy birthday!
