LA - Get my grub on.

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Turn out, it's a horrible idea to draft up a food post before grocery shopping.

Since I'm already behind on filling you guys in on my trip down to LA that I made a couple weeks ago, I thought I'd reorganized the photos and post them under a few different categories. Today, we talk food.

I must admit, even with San Francisco and San Jose pushing out delectable Chinese cuisines across town, LA's definitely got the eats taken care of for us Asians. Not only the main course, they got all the snacks, too! Enough talk, time to tease you with em pics:

↑ Amy's cool.

Here's the collection of a few restaurants that I visited through out the trip. I was either too busy eating or just completely mindless of my camera for the rest of them.

Woke up in the morning feeling like PDiddy a Taiwanese kid, so we headed down to "Four Sea Restaurant" for some good ol' chinese breakfast:

蘿蔔糕(Turnip Cake) with egg and garlic sauce.

Egg pancake. Man, the english names are not doing these food justice.

A fairly new tapioca place on the block. It's called "Half Half," but more like "mix mix" in terms of the nature of the tapioca bar. As oppose to traditional pre-mixed tapioca drinks, they pour in the tea and milk separately, so the customers get to mix the drink themselves.

Pete and Katherine got the taro mix.

Jim and I got the Creme Brulee mix. That's right.

BAM:

↑ ah.

Taiwanese food.

Turn out, it's a horrible idea to blog about this entry late at night, too.

Dim sum girl, you rock my world.

People's favorite.

More food! Japanese this time.

Portion's pretty good - I split it into two meals.

Connie's happy.

Dessert.

↑ A Taiwanese elementary/middle school themed restaurant.

And of course, can't missed out on the underage smoking.

Oh god.

↑Red bean and green tea shave ice with mochi.

Dinner. Shabu shabu - mini individual hotpots.

The sauce blew me away. SO I brought home a few packs.

Connie's happier.

Last but not least: Connie's parents' home cooking!

Thank you, LA. For making me hungry. again.
